For all of you with a heart for horses this is a pretty amazing way for you to get involved. These horses have been left to starve and fend for themselves. People are driving out to Yakima to donate hay and resources for these abandoned horses. Check the video and pass it on.
Contact Sherry Fryar at 509-945-7484 if you or someone you know can help these animals in any way.

Very very sad situation, some pretty horrendous pictures today of the little black baby seen on the news...now dead with its rear leg and hip eaten out by coyotes. You can see the Facebook page for ahtanum ridge horses and get more info...pretty sickening.
I read somewhere else that these were tribal horses - I think it's the same group. If so, what I understand they are doing at this point is trying to keep them alive by feeding and asking for food donations. I could be wrong - there are so many groups of horses lately it seems.

Different group and location than the 60 in another thread. Belong to a tribal member who refuses to care for them and is making wild claims that people take the babies, starve them and then bring them back to the herd to die!!! There is proof from long time observers that this is not happening, but apparently the fellow drinks quite a bit...meanwhile the horses suffer as tribal elders deliberate...
They are different people. This one is refusing to give up any of his horses at the moment.the pictures on fb have been very graphic and horrifying to see. I can only hope that this situation will have a positive outcome and these horses get saved.

Because he is on the reservation and is under the tribal laws. The horses now are getting more help, they are in desperate need of hay or hay funds as they are allowing them to be fed through the co-ordinated group effort that is ongoing. There are ads posted in the Yakima Craigslist with the contact info if anyone can help. The foals that have died, most of them, from the effects of toxic weeds when they had no other feed. There are still 4 younger nursing foals that so far are doing somewhat better because they are too young and with feed, the mares have some milk, so babies not affected yet and they are trying to keep this from happening, at this time, they can only feed every other day due to trying to procure enough hay. Thanks to many many people, the process is ongoing and the horses at least have a chance. you can check out the facebook page for more information. There is also a local vet, Dr. K. Sorem, that has been helping with the bloodwork etc too.
Poor animals, so sad. I don't think I can stand to look at any really sad photos, but would like to help somehow. Who do we contact about donations? Person mentioned in the first post? Hope the tribe can help out but I know some tribes are very poor already.
Donations can be sent to Sherry Fryar, 60 Hiebert Dr, Moxee WA 98936. Her phone number is 509-945-7484. Email is firstname.lastname@example.org. Sounds like they have a great group of volunteers to feed they just need any and all monetary help to purchase more feed. I'm sending a check today. This breaks my heart an is so close to home.
